News Update – February/ March 2020

Welcome to the ACROSS newsletter and to my first article. We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and new year – all ready for 2020.   I commenced at ACROSS on 6 January 2020 and now in week 3 as Director.  It is an immense pleasure to work within an organisation that has been so well managed in terms of the leadership and colleagues delivering quality services.   I am determined that we continue this legacy and grow new opportunities to meet the gaps and needs of young people and their whanau.   So I welcome the opportunity to make a real difference!

We are starting the new-year with our TALK programme (Triple P And Lessons for Kids) to help parents reduce their child’s anxiety; the Space programme for new parents with group sessions in Palmerston North and Fielding; and our Suicide Bereavement Group for people affected by the loss of someone through suicide.  The specific meeting and contact details are outlined further in this newsletter.

ACROSS also provides a wide range of services to support children, young people and their whanau through social work support, parenting programmes, counselling, and parent supervised contact.   We are here to support our communities – take a look at our website www.across.org.nz to find out more or call us on 06-356 7486.

ACROSS supports the ongoing work of the Christian Council of Social Services and we encourage our communities to consider the critical emerging policy issues now that we are in an election year.   Finally the Festival of Cultures starts on 29 February 2020 which is a week-long celebration of our City’s cultural diversity through art, food and culture.  Check out their website www.festivalofcultures.co.nz.
